AAP MLAs, MPs, ministers to donate one-month salary

All AAP MPs, MLAs and Ministers will donate one-month salary for the relief work in flood-ravaged Kerala.

In a tweet, Delhi Chief Minister (CM) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal today said, "All AAP MLAs, MPs and ministers are donating one month salary for Kerala."

In a series of tweet, the Delhi CM shared the plans of action his government will take to help the disaster-hit Kerala.

"Held a meeting wid Resident Commissioner of Kerala to find out requirements. Del govt will send water n dry food. All SDM offices will act as collection centres for clothes, bedsheets n blankets (sic)," Kejriwal tweeted.

Taking to the microblogging site, he has also appealed today to the Delhi government employees to donate one'day's salary for the crisis-hit state.

"I appeal to all employees of Delhi govt to donate at least one day salary for Kerala."

Retweeting his Kerala counterpart's tweet that carried the details of the Kerala CM Relief Funds, Kejriwal had yesterday requested public to contribute for the ongoing relief work. The Delhi CM had also spoken to his Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan and committed a contribution of Rs 10 crore.

This is the deadliest deluge in Kerala in close to a century. Further, a body blow has been dealt to the scenic state, with its infrastructure, standing crops and tourism facilities severely hit.

Over 3.14 lakh people have been moved to relief camps. Though the water is receding in rivers in the state, victims are still being evacuated to safe places. People are seen wadding through the flooded water. Local police and Central Forces are involved in the rescue work. Forty two teams of the Indian Navy and 16 of the army have been pressed into service. The IAF has chipped in too with 23 helicopters.
