Even as SAD MLA Pawan Tinu had already formally launched the sewage project in Adampur ahead of the last year’s Vidhan Sabha polls, former Congress MP Mahinder Singh Kaypee today re-launched the same project.

The Akali MLA had already launched the Rs 23-crore project during the tenure of previous government and had got work to the tune of Rs 8 crore done but it had reportedly got halted after the Congress took over. Tinu had been alleging that the new government had even got stopped the ongoing projects by withholding further payments, thus making residents suffer.

As Kaypee yesterday re-launched the same project and announced to pump in the remaining funds, the SAD MLA reacted strongly, criticising him for trying to take mileage out of an ongoing project. “Firstly, there was no point in re-launching the same project. Secondly, he should first tell people why his government made them suffer for so long with the roads dug up and old sewer system remaining clogged. Thirdly, the project had already been accomplished at the site where he re-launched it as underground pipes had been laid there earlier. Lastly, how could the XEN and SDO allow Kaypee to inaugurate a government project when he holds no constitutional post,” Tinu lambasted.

Tinu had launched the same project in the Haripur area by first performing ardas and then getting the land breaking done by the elderly of the town. Kaypee changed the site and got it done on the Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur highway passing from the town. As mediapersons quizzed Kaypee on Tinu’s allegations, he told them, “I am just re-starting a project which had been lying held up. I have not laid any new foundation stone.” Kaypee meant that he had re-launched it formally just by cutting a ribbon.
