Katra varsity students attend PyCon-2018

JAMMU: BTech students of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, attended the PyCon-2018, a premier annual conference in India, at the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Hyderabad.

BTech students of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, attended the PyCon-2018, a premier annual conference in India, at the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Hyderabad.

The conference was based on the use and development of the Python programming language. The BTech students of semesters III, V and VII, and their teachers, namely Sharada M Potukuchi and Himmat Raj Sharma, attended the event.

The university students attended 36 sessions, including community meets, to acquaint themselves with the use and implementation of Python. The event was followed by a workshop, conference and developers’ sprints days.

An alumnus of the Katra university, Abhishek Kumar, deep learning engineer, Predible Health, Bangalore, also delivered a talk on ‘Exploring PyTorch for AI assistance in Medical Imaging’ during the event.

The students participated in the events and won many prizes. The event was inaugurated by Kushal Das and Marlene Mhangami, directors, Python Software Foundation. More than 10 eminent speakers delivered their lectures.
