On Thursday, Kapil Sharma took to social media to appeal to his fans for helping people in the flood-stricken state of Punjab. He posted a video and said nature’s fury had left several families in the North Indian state homeless. He added that the floods had destroyed crops and that everyone from small children to senior citizens were suffering. Kapil urged his fans to help the people of the state in whatever way possible. While Kapil received hundreds of positive comments from his fans, there were many who accused him of regional bias. People asked him why he never made an appeal for flood-affected Maharashtra.

Possibly under pressure from netizens, almost an hour later, Kapil uploaded another video wherein he could be seen appealing for the people in Maharashtra. He, however, was clearly not pleased with the way netizens had reacted to his first video. In a separate post, he said that his motive behind making the videos was to make everyone aware of the severity of the problem in the flood-affected states. An angry Kapil called the trolls “bevakoof.” He said that in this hour of need, one needed to rise above “Bihari, Punjabi, Marathi, Madrasi” to stand by the ones who were suffering.
