P’kula police not taking any chance

PANCHKULA: Despite Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh set to make an appearance in the court through videoconferencing in the murder case of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati, the Panchkula police are not taking any chance and have made elaborate security arrangements.

Despite Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh set to make an appearance in the court through videoconferencing in the murder case of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati, the Panchkula police are not taking any chance and have made elaborate security arrangements.

“There will be heavy deployment of force at all checkposts around the District Courts complex in Panchkula. There will be heavy force at the entry gate, too,” said Kamal Deep Goyal, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Panchkula.

The court will pronounce its verdict in the Chhatrapati murder case on January 11. The police have been allotted 4 DSPs from outside the district and 4 additional police companies.

The check posts will be set up at 17 locations so that all vehicles could be monitored. Nine duty magistrates have been appointed who would be deputed at the Courts Complex, Sector 1; Mini Secretariat, Sector 1; Old Panchkula, Sector 1; Majri Chowk, Sector 1; Bella Vista Chowk, Sector 1/5; District Inspector Office cut in Sector 1; Suraj Cinema turn in Sector 1; Red Bishop turn in Sector 1; and check post at the Mini Secretariat.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Mukul Kumar had also issued directions to cancel the leaves of all officials till January 11. Panchkula and Kalka SDMs will also remain alert to the security situation in their areas.

Panchayat officials have been asked to open a channel with sarpanches for identification of outsiders and the Panchkula, SDM, has been directed to keep in touch with the Resident Welfare Associations to keep track of the outsiders.
