New Delhi, May 22

The din of the Lok Sabha elections is over and some old friends are catching up on Twitter. One such friendly back and forth was witnessed late this evening between the legendary cine star Dharmendra and PPCC chief and sitting Gurdaspur MP Sunil Jakhar.

Dharmendra yesterday took to Twitter to express his friendliness and emotions for Jakhar, son of late veteran Congressman Balram Jakhar with whom Dharmendra is said to have had close ties.

That explains why after his son and actor Sunny Deol was named the official BJP candidate to challenge Sunil Jakhar in Gurdaspur, Dharmendra had said, “I had great respect for Sunil Jakhar’s father.”

That said, Sunny Deol and Sunil Jakhar went on to contest a fierce election.

With the elections over, Dharmendra tweeted a post yesterday, expressing affections for Jakhar and ruing that the Congress leader had squandered all affections.

“Sagon se rishtey, ik zamane se, tod gayi palon mein kambakht siyasat, ye barqarar hai barqarar rahegi mohabbat meri mohabbat se…Jakhar ke naam (Politics has ruined age-old relationships with friends but my love is intact for you Mr Jakhar)” was what the veteran actor wrote.

Jakhar reciprocated today tagging Dharmendra and writing on Twitter, “Ji dosti hai, koi sheesha nahi joh toot kar bikhar jaye janaab, hamne rishtey nibhayen hain usulon ki tarah aur nibhaate rahenge (This is friendship, not glass that can break and scatter Dharam sahib; I have lived my relationships like I have lived my values, and I will always keep my relationships)”.
