IT Dept raids two business outlets

The Income-Tax Department under section 133-A of the Income-tax Act, 1961, today conducted survey of Bhawani Shanker at RK sweets, opposite sabzi mandi, Nawanshahr and at RK Caterers, Focal Point, Banga Road.

The survey was conducted under the directions of the Principal Commissioner of Income Tax-1, Jalandhar; Dr Simmi Gupta, IRS and the Joint Commissioner of Income-tax, Range-II, Jalandhar. During the survey the teams verified the account books and other relevant documents of both the business concerns.

The survey team was comprised of Shakil Ahmad Ganie, ACIT, Gurbax Singh, Income-tax Officer along with other officials .

As per the information, various incriminatory documents were found and the same were tallied with the account books. The assessed could not give the satisfactory reply/explanation regarding the mismatch in the accounts. Both the group concerns also showed an additional income of Rs1,70,00,000 over and above their normal business income for the financial year 2018-19.

Dr Simmi Gupta, IRS, the Principal. Commissioner of Income Tax-1, Jalandhar revealed that there was plenty of information in the possession of the Department about those who were not paying taxes honestly. She said the department would not shy away from using the information if the owners of the business houses do not pay their correct amount. — OC
