Issewal rape victim identifies all accused

Ludhiana, July 22

The Court of Additional Sessions Judge Rashmi Sharma on Monday recorded the statement of the victim of the Issewal gangrape after the girl identified all accused present there.

The victim endorsed the test identification parade conducted at the local Central jail in the presence of the Judicial Magistrate. She supported the prosecution case and reiterated the sequence of events that she earlier recorded with the police and the Judicial Magistrate. Meanwhile, the prosecution provided the pen drive containing videography done at the time of the identification parade conducted in the Central jail as per the court directions.

Special Public Prosecutor BD Gupta informed the court that the prosecution had already examined seven witnesses in the case which will come up for cross-examination by the defence lawyers in August. The accused included Sadiq Ali of Mukandpur, Nawanshahr; Jagroop Singh, alias Rupi of Jaspal Bangar village; Surmo of Khanpur village, Dehlon; Saif Ali of Dehlon; and Ajay, alias Lalan, of Jassad Paddi village, Ludhiana; and a juvenile aged 16 and a half years.

The police had in a short span filed a chargesheet containing the scientific investigation supported by 54 witnesses against the accused. — OC
