IPH employees stage dharna against thrashing of colleague

NURPUR: Under the banner of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), employees of the Irrigation-cum-Public Health Department on Tuesday staged a dharna before the police chowki at Rehan under the Nurpur police station jurisdiction, in protest against the thrashing of the department’s fitter Chain Singh.

Under the banner of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), employees of the Irrigation-cum-Public Health Department on Tuesday staged a dharna before the police chowki at Rehan under the Nurpur police station jurisdiction, in protest against the thrashing of the department’s fitter Chain Singh.

Led by state BMS vice-president Madan Rana, the employees lodged their protest against the police inaction in arresting the culprits even after 24 hours of the crime. 

According to information, the IPH fitter was on duty on Monday at Raja ka Talab near Rehan when Baldev Raj and Manoj Kumar, both residents of Garan village, allegedly abused and thrashed the victim severely for not supplying water in their area. The IPH fitter sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Nurpur Civil Hospital. IPH Assistant Engineer Vinay Dogra got an FIR registered against the accused at the Nurpur police station. 

In this connection, Sahil Arora, DSP, Nurpur, said the police had registered a case under Sections 353 and 323 of the IPC and medical examination of the victim was conducted. He said since the victim was not in a position to record his statement, so as soon as his statement was recorded, the police would take further action.
