Internet services have been disrupted in the tribal district of Lahaul-Spiti for the last 10 days.
Residents said the Internet cable near Marhi got damaged nearly 10 days ago when the BRO had engaged its machinery for the maintenance of a stretch on the Manali-Leh highway. Ashok Kumar, a local resident, said work in government and private offices had been badly affected. Banking services were the worst hit.
The district Congress Committee has threatened to gherao the BSNL office if the problem was not solved within five days.
LD Negi, Telecommunication District Manager (BSNL), Kullu district, said a team was sent on the spot on Monday to locate the fault in the line. He said the services would be restored in a day or two.
