You’ve seen it on bags, shoes, jewellery…those cute little tassels and fringe that gives everything a playful, whimsical look. Well, good news…that trend has headed indoors too! Love it or hate it, it’s a trend that always re-emerges in fashion and décor. In the coming months, we’re expecting to see the trend dancing from the edges of throw pillows, draping itself over lamps, weaving its way into upholstery, and even showing up in some unexpected places. From dainty, bell-like tassels to relaxed, boho leather threads, fringe is back and flowing as free as ever.
Stick to a small dose
Fringe has a tendency to look and feel heavy. Avoid that feeling by incorporating it in small doses. It’s actually a really beautiful accent in a modern interior, adding a bit of flair while still feeling light and fun. Fringes not only add texture and depth to furniture but are also great for creating movement and flow in your interior designs.
Dress up a simple window with a beautiful fringed tassel or add an elaborate fringed lamp shade as a statement piece in your living room. Get creative and rest assured that a simple fringe can act as a wow factor in almost any room.
Make it a statement piece
Fringes come in all different shapes, sizes and materials, including wicker and glass beads, creating a wealth of options for people with different tastes. They add a little extra something to a room, ornamenting what would be otherwise a plain pillow or lacklustre drapes. Designers have different recommendations for what in your home deserves embellishment but agree on a few basic places where this decoration really adds something extra. A statement piece with fringe detail is a great way of adding texture to a sleek or minimal interior. Add a fringe chandelier over your dining table and watch the change it brings into the room. Fringed pillows instantly add the wow factor to boring sofas and beds.
There’s a whole lot of fringe decor to go around….Try it!!
