In Karnal, teen inmate’s death raises eyebrows

Karnal, January 21

A 16-year-old inmate of an observation house at Madhuban in the district died under mysterious circumstances late Sunday evening, raising eyebrows.

He was an accused of an offence under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act registered in Panipat district in January 2018 and was in the observation home since January 16. He was earlier lodged in the Ambala observation home for the past one year, said the Madhuban police.

According to the police, he complained of abdomen pain on Sunday evening and was taken to a hospital, where he died. A judicial probe has been initiated into the matter.

The Panipat police had arrested him on January 4, 2018, on the charge of raping a minor and was shifted to the Ambala observation home.
