Harvinder helps Dr Luthra’s XI win

Chandigarh: Harvinder Nain scored an unbeaten half-century to help Dr Luthra’s Cricket XI register a seven-wicket win over Modern Cricket Club (MCC) in the Friendship T20 Cup final. Batting first, MCC scored 128/8 in 20 overs. Sumit made 49, while Armaan added 24 runs to the total. Gurkirat chipped in with 18 runs. Harshul scored 13 runs. Aayush was the pick of the bowlers for Dr Luthra’s XI, claiming 3/30. Shahid and Pankaj claimed two wickets each. Needing to score 6.45 runs per over for victory, Dr Luthra’s XI rode on Nain’s unbeaten 76-run knock to reach home with seven wickets to spare. Shahid contributed 32 runs to the chase. TT c’ship from August 9

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Table Tennis Association will organise the State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament at the Sector 50 TT hall here from August 9-11. The championship will be held in U-12, U-15, U-18, U-21 and senior age-groups, the organisers said here on Monday. Those competing in U-12 age-group should be have been born on or after January 1, 2008, while players born on or after January 1, 2005, can compete in the U-15 category. Paddlers born on or after January 1, 2002, will be eligible to participate in U-18 competition, while those born on or after January 1, 1999, can compete in U-21 contest, the sports body said. There will be no age limit for the senior category, they added. The interested players need to register for the tournament before 7 pm on August 8. TNS
