Chandigarh: The police have apprehended two juveniles in a burglary case.

Chandigarh: A youth was killed while another one was injured in a road mishap near Sector 42 here late on Tuesday night. Two scooter-borne youths were found injured on a road near the SDM's office around 11.20 pm. Passersby informed the police, who took them to the GMSH in Sector 16 where doctors declared one of the youths brought dead. The other youth, who was unconscious, was referred to the PGI. The police said it was not clear whether it was a case of hit-and-run or they fell on their own. They said the youths seemed to be in their late twenties and were yet to be identified. The police have registered a case. TNS

Mobile phone snatched

Chandigarh:Three miscreants snatched a mobile phone from a woman on the road from 3BRD to Ram Darbar, Phase I, on Monday. The police said the snatchers were on an Activa scooter and sped away after committing the crime. A case under Sections 379 and 356 of the Indin Penal Code was registered against them at the Sector 31 police station. TNS

Vendor assaults cop, booked

Chandigarh: The police have booked a street vendor for allegedly thrashing a head constable near the grain market in Sector 26. In a complaint lodged with the police, head constable Navtej Singh stated that the vendor, Param Atma, beat him up near the grain market on Sunday. He reported the matter to the police after which a case was registered against him under Sections 323 and 341 of the Indian Penal Code at the Sector 26 police station. TNS

Rights panel sends  notice to  P’kula MC

Panckula: Taking suo motu cognisance of a media report, the Haryana Human Rights Commission on Tuesday issued a notice to the Panchkula Muncipal Corporation over an accident caused by a pothole on newly constructed road near Bella Vista roundabout, Panchkula. Six people, including a woman and her four-year-old son were injured in the mishap. The Commission said it was a serious violation of Panchkula citizens’ rights and asked the MC Commissioner, Rajesh Jogpal, to submit a detailed report within a period of six months on the issue.  The Commission further fixed July 25 as the next date of hearing related to the matter. One held with intoxicants

Kharar: The police have recovered 2,100 intoxicant tablets  from a person. The accused has been identified as Lovepreet Singh, a resident of Garhshankar. The police had set up a nakka at Sunny Enclave. The accused coming from Mata Gujri Enclave tried to escape after seeing the police. The cops got hold of him and recovered 2,100 tablets from him.  A case has been registered under the NDPS Act. OC 

Rgs outclass Youth Club 3-0 

Chandigarh:  RoundGlass Sports (RGS) defeated Youth Football Club (YFC) 3-0 in the Hero Junior League (Punjab Zone), on Tuesday. Vikas Kumar scored the first goal in the 40th minute, followed by another in the 65th minute. Lucky scored the final goal to confirm an easy 3-0 win in the 78th minute. With three wins RGS is placed second on the table.TNS
