Snatchers in police net

Ludhiana: The city police have arrested two snatchers and recovered two two-wheelers and two mobile phones from them. The accused have been identified as Raj Mohammad, alias Babbi, and Hardeep Singh, alias Banga, both residents of Shimlapuri.

The accused have been identified as Raj Mohammad, alias Babbi, and Hardeep Singh, alias Banga, both residents of Shimlapuri.  ACP, Civil Lines, Sartaj Singh said they were involved in several incidents of vehicle thefts, mobile and purse snatching. Accused Raj is already booked in seven cases of snatching, dacoity and theft, while Hardeep is facing two cases of theft. tns  

Man held for stealing purse 

Ludhiana: The division number 8 police have arrested a person and recovered a purse snatched by him from a woman. The accused has been identified as Jagmeet Singh of Ghumar Mandi. Complainant Rupinder Pal of Ashapuri told the police that on February 2, the accused snatched her purse when she was in Ghumar Mandi. On the basis of the registration number of the motorcycle, the police arrested the accused. His motorcycle has also been impounded. tns

One held with illicit liquor

Ludhiana: The police have arrested a man and recovered two cases of illicit liquor from him. The police said during routine patrolling near Islam Ganj, accused Bhupinder Singh of Model Town. was stopped and liquor recovered from him. He was on his way to deliver the liquor to his clients. 1 booked for kidnapping minor

Ludhiana: The Jamalpur police have booked a man on the charge of kidnapping a 16-year-old girl. The accused has been identified as Vijay Kumar of Mundian Kalan. Complainant Rekha Mishra stated to the police that her daughter Jyoti left home on January 31 and later someone told her that she was kidnapped by the accused on the pretext of marrying her. After registering a case, the police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused. TNS

Two booked in dowry cases

Ludhiana: The women’s cell police have registered two dowry harassment cases. In the first case, on the complaint of Kirti Bharti, a resident of Salempur, the police have booked her husband Gurtej Singh, a resident of Ranjit Garh, Muktsar. She got married to the accused in 2016. In another case, on the complaint of Poonam of EWS colony, the police have booked her husband Raj Singh on the charge of dowry harassment. She alleged that immediately after her marriage with the accused in 2017, he started torturing her for want of dowry. The police said the accused were yet to be arrested in both cases. TNS
