Tightening its noose around immigration companies cheating people on the pretext of sending them abroad, the local police today booked the owner of a travel and immigration firm and three other agents here.
Gursewak Singh, a resident of Mohali, filed a complaint that the firm duped him and several other applicants of over Rs 6 lakh. All accused are yet to be arrested.
The police said the firm owner Fateh and three other agents were booked after Gursewak alleged that the firm did not send him abroad even after he had paid the amount.
In his compliant to the SHO, Zirakpur, Gursewak alleged that the firm had promised him and other applicants of getting them a work visa in Gulf countries within 45 days.
The complainant said after repeated requests, his money was not refunded following which he decided to file a complaint.
A case against the owner and three agents of the immigration firm had been registered at the Zirakpur police station and further probe was on, the police said.
