The Karnal Municipal Corporation (KMC) on Tuesday carried out a demolition drive against unauthorised colonies and illegal construction in the KMC limits.
It demolished walls and foundation stones of several under-construction buildings in two unauthorised colonies spread on five acres each in front of the grain market, two unauthorised colonies spread on 12 and five acres near Phoosgarh and near Industrial Area respectively, one under-construction shop in old grain market and one under-construction godown near Daha Jagir village and one under-construction building near Nameste Chowk.
As per officials, the owners had been served notices. But they did not stop construction. That forced the authorities to take this step.
