Husband and wife nabbed for duping people of Rs 30 crore. They both are proclaimed offenders in more than 12 cases, said a police official.

Vinod Bansal (57) and his wife Preeti Bansal (56), both are residents of SR-23 Siris Road, Gurugram, were declared proclaimed offenders by different courts of Delhi, Punjab and Haryana. They were wanted in various cases, out of which three cases are pending with the CBI and one is with the EOW of the Delhi Police, said DCP Vijay Kumar.

They were evading arrest for a long time. During investigation, their location was surfaced through e-surveillance and today they were arrested from Surya Vihar, Ghaziabad.

During interrogation they said they used to allure people to invest money in fake and incomplete projects and later duped the investors. Vinod Bansal procured loans from several banking and financial institutions, but defaulted in repaying the loans. He had also taken a loan of Rs 8-10 crore from private investors. Further investigation is being carried out to ascertain more involvements of persons in the fraud, the DCP added.
