Kerala boys play 4-4 draw against Patiala

Chandigarh, January 14 

In a nail-biting finish, Kerala Hockey pulled off a 4-4 draw against Hockey Patiala during the ongoing 9th Hockey India Senior Men National Hockey Championship, in Chennai, on Monday.

S Shijin put Kerala ahead by two goals after sounding the wooden plank successfully in the 11th minute and 17th minute. Rana Robindeep Singh cut short the lead to 1-2 with the first field goal for Patiala. However Shijin's unbeaten run continued as scored his third goal in the 40th minute to complete his hat-trick. 

The joy was short-lived as Robindeep came up with his second to again reduce the lead to 2-3 in the 48th minute. In the very next minute, Patiala boys were at par with Kerala through the strike Rahul Sharma. 

Having struggled to get goals, Patiala lads managed to get lead after Jaswant Singh's penalty corner conversion in the 56th minute. However, M Nishant came to the rescue for Kerala, with a last minute goal. 

In another exciting match, Hockey Coorg beat Steel Plant Sports Board 2-1. DM Achaiah scored in the sixth minute to put Corrg in lead however Amit Kumar cancelled the goal in the 18th minute. CK Mokshith Uthappa scored the winning goal in the 31st minute for Coorg. Sports Authority of India (SAI) beat All India Police Sports Control Board 2-1. Balwinder Singh (16th minute) and Boby Singh Dhami (22nd minute) scored a goal each for SAI, while Sanjit Beck scored the only goal for Police team in the 59th minute. Hockey HIM outclassed Assam Hockey 5-1. 

Banesh Dangwal (2nd minute), Kapil (4th minute), Prince Kumar (19th minute), Ankur Sharma (27th minute and Gagandeep (50th minute) scored for Hockey HIM, while M Shitananda Singh (55th minute) scored the lone goal for Assam Hockey. In the last match, Hockey Madhya Bharat beat Goans Hockey 9-3.
