Two persons riding a motorcycle were killed after they were hit by a Tempo Traveller near the Sector 45/46/49/50 light point on January 14.
According to the police, the complainant, Constable Preetam, who is posted at the Sector 49 police station, reported that a rashly-driven Tempo Traveller hit a motorcycle near the Sector 45/46/49/50 light point.
The motorcycle rider, Gambhir Prasad (27), and the pillion rider, Davinder (42), both waiters and natives of Tehri Garhwal district in Uttarakhand, were seriously injured. They were on the way from Mohali to Burail. They were taken to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, where doctors declared Gambhir brought dead, while Davinder succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The police said the Tempo Traveller driver had been identified as Bahadur Singh. A case was registered against him under Sections 279, 337 and 304-A of the IPC at the Sector 49 police station.
He was arrested and later released on bail.
