Hit by car, biker dies

A motorcyclist died after his bike was allegedly hit by a car near Kulri village on the Ambala-Chandigarh stretch here on Tuesday night. The deceased has been identified as Manish Kumar Sharma, a resident of Lalru.

The police said the incident took place on Tuesday when the victim, who works at Sharma Transport Ambala, was heading back home on his motorcycle after finishing his job.

Mohit Kumar, brother of the deceased, who was also heading back home from Ambala on a separate motorbike, told the police that when Manish reached near Kurli village, an i-20 car which was also heading in the same direction, reportedly hit his bike.

The victim, who sustained injuries, was rushed to the Civil Hospital, Dera Bassi, where doctors declared him brought dead.

The police have registered a case against car driver Rinku, a resident of Haryana, under relevant sections of the IPC at the Lalru police station. Meanwhile, the police have handed over the body of the deceased to the family members after the post-mortem examination. Further investigations are under process, said the police.
