The SGPC House on Tuesday passed a resolution demanding that Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh should apologise before the Sikh community and suspend Education Minister OP Soni while taking moral responsibility for “distortion” of Sikh history chapters in textbooks of Class XI and XII.
SGPCchief Gobind Singh Longowal, who had led a dharna against the state government, demanded registration of a case against those who had used offensive language against the Gurus in the chapters that were uploaded.
The government has already withdrawn the books with reportedly objectionable content and distorted facts and directed that the previous session’s books be used. In another resolution, the House demanded to facilitate a corridor to Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib and ease the visa norms for devotees who intend to visit Sikh religious places in Pakistan. “We demanded from the governments of both the sides of the border to dedicate the corridor on the occasion.”
