Health team collects 9 samples of food items

JALANDHAR: Continuing its drive to check the adulteration under the Tandarust Punjab Mission, a team of the Health Department today carried out a sampling drive at various restaurants and hotels and collected nine samples of food items.

Continuing its drive to check the adulteration under the Tandarust Punjab Mission, a team of the Health Department today carried out a sampling drive at various restaurants and hotels and collected nine samples of food items.

A team, led by the District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Balwinder Singh, Food Safety Officer, Rashu Mahajan and others inspected different food establishments including Hotel Downtown at Nakodar chowk; Headquaters restaurant at Jawahar Nagar; Singh dairy at Workshop chowk and some shops opposite the Bus stand.

DHO, Dr Balwinder Singh said the samples had been sent to the State Food Laboratory for examination. He said the owners of the establishments were also sensitised towards food safety guidelines.

He said the adulterators would not be spared at any cost and asserted that stern action be taken against the perpetrators.
