Health Dept team detects 26 dengue larvae cases

JALANDHAR: During its drive against vector-borne diseases under the ‘Tandarust Punjab Mission’ in the district, the anti-larva cell of the Health Department found 26 dengue larvae cases in various areas of the city on Monday.

During its drive against vector-borne diseases under the ‘Tandarust Punjab Mission’ in the district, the anti-larva cell of the Health Department found 26 dengue larvae cases in various areas of the city on Monday.

Seven teams carried out checking at Kabir Nagar, Jawala Nagar, Model Town, Gautam Nagar, office of Public Works Department (buildings and roads), Mother and Child Ward at the Civil Hospital and Lidhran.

During the checking, the team members found 14 cases in Jawala Nagar, 10 in Kabir Nagar and 2 in Gautam Nagar. The teams visited 265 houses, covered a population of 1,136, and checked 102 air coolers and 88 containers. They also carried out spray in 215 rooms of these localities.

The members of the team also talked to people during the drive and made them aware that these places could act as a breeding ground for the mosquitoes to spread diseases such as dengue, malaria and others.
