Health Dept detects 23 larva cases

JALANDHAR: As part of its drive against vector-borne diseases in the city, the anti-larva cell of the Health Department detected 23 dengue larva cases in various areas of the city today.

As part of its drive against vector-borne diseases in the city, the anti-larva cell of the Health Department detected 23 dengue larva cases in various areas of the city today.

The health teams visited 587 houses, covering a population of 2,468 persons, and checked 115 desert coolers and 670 waste containers.

They told the residents that the desert coolers and waste containers could act as a breeding ground for mosquitoes in spreading diseases such as dengue and malaria. They said the drive was aimed at identifying vulnerable places for breeding of mosquitoes.

Separate teams of anti-larva cell, led by Harpreet Pal, Amanpreet Singh, Vinod Kumar, Gurwinder Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Rajwinder Singh, Pardeep Kumar, Sher Singh, Sarbjeet, Amit Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Bhupinder Singh, Shakti Gopal and others conducted the inspections in Ajit Nagar, Railway Colony Dakoha, New Shiva Ji Nagar, Basti Danishmandan, Military Hospital Maqsudan, Raj Nagar, Bhargo Camp, Kazi Mandi, Dilbag Nagar, Baba Budha Ji Nagar, Rama Mandi and Santoshi Nagar.
