Head constable booked for cheating

AMRITSAR: A head constable, along with his wife, has been booked for allegedly duping his woman colleague and several others on the pretext of buying property for them.

A head constable, along with his wife, has been booked for allegedly duping his woman colleague and several others on the pretext of buying property for them.

They have been identified as Head Constable Hari Singh and his wife Usha Kandhari, both residents of Police Colony, Civil Lines, Ajnala road. A case under Sections 420 and 120-B IPC was registered against them. No arrest has been made so far.

Constable Paramjit Kaur stated to the Civil Lines police that the accused cheated her on the pretext of buying a plot. She alleged that they took Rs 6.5 lakh from her but neither bought a plot nor returned the money. The police also received complaints from Kulwinder Kaur, Jyoti, Ramanpreet Kaur, Sultan and Palak of the same locality against Hari Singh. They alleged that the accused took huge money from them on various pretexts.

The police said raids were on to nab the couple. — TNS
