Chandigarh, February 2
The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday issued a notice to the Punjab Government on a petition filed by MLA Som Parkash for quashing rules under the Right to Education Act, which allegedly inhibited admissions from economically weaker sections against 25 per cent quota in private unaided schools.
The MLA said the Rule 7 (4) envisaged that such children could be given admission in Class I in a private unaided school, if they were unable to get admission in a government school or a private aided school. This, he claimed, was in conflict with the Act. — TNS
