The Bench of Justice Krishan Murari, Chief Justice, and Justice Arun Palli of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, while disposing of a public interest litigation (PIL), has directed the Public Works Department B&R to take action within eight weeks on a representation submitted on December 11, 2018, pertaining to the discontinuation of the repair work on the road between Gannaur and Rajlu Garhi via Bhogipur in Sonepat district.

The residents of Rajlu Garhi village had approached the High Court stating that the work to repair the road was assigned to a contractor by the authorities concerned  but due to a lax attitude of officials, it was discontinued after carpeting of the road with stone pieces.

It was also submitted that no tangible progress had been made on the project during the past 18 months.

Moreover, the authorities concerned had not responded to the repeated representations, including the last one submitted on December 11, 2018.

Residents of the villages located along the road and in nearby areas continue to suffer due to the incomplete road.
