The authorities concerned should pay attention to the problem of traffic at Tribune Chowk, Industrial Area, Phase I. All long-route buses tend to stop near Tribune Chowk and due to the traffic jam, the vehicles which have to take slip road towards the Industrial Area, Phase I, are often troubled. Usually, the Traffic Police do not challan the government buses and the bus drivers take this for granted.

Discrepancy at parking lot

The problem regarding parking fee has been existing at the public parking space in front of the BSNL office in Sector 34, Chandigarh, which also houses the office of the Punjab State Human Rights Commission. Our work at the commission starts daily around 9:30 am and I park my vehicle, an Activa, at the aforesaid parking space. The parking space is now being governed by the Municipal Corporation (MCC), Chandigarh. According to the instructions on the slip, the parking rates are applicable from 12 pm to 8 pm. No one is around in the morning for collecting the fee, but when we leave around 1 pm, we have to pay the fee (Rs 5). However, the fee collectors don’t issue a slip then. Apparently, the amount has been going into their own pockets. The authorities concerned should regulate the parking system by issuing of proper fee slips so that the amount collected goes to the government revenue.
