Restrict number of vehicles

For a permanent solution to parking woes in southern sectors of the city, there is a need to reduce the number of personal cars with an increase in the cab service. Those lacking enough space for their vehicles should be charged at least Rs 1,000 for parking outside their houses. This fee can be enhanced for bigger cars. The use of two-wheelers should be encouraged. No household should be allowed to keep more than two vehicles. Basant Kumar

Landlords at fault too

It was shocking to learn that a group of boys, staying in a PG in Sector 21, damaged two cars and created ruckus under the influence of alcohol. Unfortunately, such hooliganism by paying guests is on the rise in the city, coupled with an increase in the number of illegal PGs. Owners of these PGs too are minting money by stuffing three to four students in a room amid the paucity of accommodation for students. It is also unfortunate that till now only 20 PG accommodations have been registered with the authorities concerned. Landlords, too, should be careful and go for the tenant verification. But as the penalty for the violation remains paltry, landlords avoid the verification rules. They seems to have failed to grasp the significance of the tenant verification. Sanjay Chopra

Punish encroachers

Two eateries in the Sector 46 market, opposite Sanatan Dharma Mandir, have put up tables and chairs on the passage for pedestrians. In the evening, the place remains crowded as visitors throng the place to relish food items. The violation has been taking place despite the MC talking of imposing a fine of Rs 10,000 on such violators. The MC should act against the eateries, seize their belongings and permanently shut these.
