Haryana men, Karnataka girls triumph

Haryana men drubbed Gujarat to win the 33rd All-India Postal Badminton Tournament, which concluded at Shaheed Lieutenant Mukesh Anand Memorial Sports Complex here on Friday.

The women’s team title went to Karnataka after they blanked Assam 2-0 in the final.  

Rajasthan’s Ankit Arora beat Renjith of Kerala in the men’s singles final, while Karnataka’s Leela Lakshmi R got the better off Vaishali F Baria of Gujarat to top the podium in the women’s singles competition.  

In the men’s doubles final, Haryana pair of Ankit Malik and Ketan Chahal overcame Abhinav Prakash and Amit Sharma of Delhi. Karnataka’s Leela Lakshmi R and Sinymol PS trounced Haryana’s Jagriti and Komal in the women’s doubles final.

In the mixed doubles competition, Haryana’s Ketan Chahal and Jagriti beat Tamil Nadu’s E Yuvraj and M Aruna to clinch the title.

Kerala’s Jeomon George, meanwhile, drubbed Tapas Biswas of West Bengal in the in veteran’s singles final.          

In veteran’s doubles final, Uttarakhand’s Narendra Singh and Jeomon George of Kerala thumped West Bengal’s Tapas Biswas and A Chaitanya RA of Andhra Pradesh.       

Chief Postmaster General, Haryana Circle, Ambala, Ranju Prasad awarded the winners.

Eighteen teams from various postal circles participated in the five-day tournament. 

Ranju Prasad said the Department of Posts organises 14 tournaments every year so that its staff stays healthy and contribute maximum to the organisation and society.

Director, Postal Services (HQ), Nirmal Singh and  Director Accounts (Postal) PS Padd were also present on this occasion.
