New Delhi, January 30

The CBI on Wednesday said it had registered five cases against employees of the Engine Division of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) at Koraput, Odisha, for allegedly causing a loss of Rs 13.28 crore to the public sector undertaking.

In the FIRs, the agency alleged that Bhaben Mitra, Senior Manager (Finance), in conspiracy with other employees misappropriated Rs 13.28 crore from the coffers of the cash-strapped PSU from 2013-17 through forged documents.

The alleged cheating, starting with Rs 13.11 lakh in 2013, touched a new height during 2017 when Rs 7.78 crore was siphoned from the company funds using fake bills, the agency officials said. — TNS
