Patiala, January 12

The technical training institute of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), Patiala, has been recognised as Category-I training institute in thermal, hydro, transmission, distribution and power management by the Ministry of Power, said Baldev Singh Sran, CMD, PSPCL, in a release.

He said the institute obtained Grade ‘A’ on the basis of appraisal carried out by a team of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA). The institute was assessed on the basis of requirements in terms of institutional facilities, organisation and staff, instructional capabilities and training methodology required as per the CEA regulations.

Sran stressed the need to include lectures on ethics in training curriculum to improve consumer services and bring integrity and transparency in public dealings.

The institute was established in 1971 and provides training to non-gazetted and gazetted technical and non-technical employees.

OP Garg, director/HR, said the training institute was the only recognised government training institute in the power sector in north India and had the rare distinction of composite certification by the Government of India within the same complex. — TNS
