Parents seek extension of admission date
Meanwhile, the Chandigarh Parents’ Association (CPA) has again requested the Education Department to extend the last date for submission of admission forms for EWS or disadvantaged group (DG) category in private schools.
The letter sent to the Education Department by the Chandigarh Parents’ Association reads, “It has come to our notice that even now, there are pending applications for the issuance of income certificates. The process of patwari verification has not been completed in some cases till now and the extended last date is Monday which needs to be extended again, otherwise the parents who could not be issued the income certificates till now would not be able to submit their admission forms in schools of their choice and their legal right would be violated for no fault on their part.”
The parents have requested the Education Department to issue directions to the private schools to accept admission forms, along with proof of submitting an application for income certificates.
DC office yet to issue 20 income certificates
The Deputy Commissioner office has issued as many as 1,166 income certificates to those belonging to the EWS category for the purpose of admission. However, it is yet to issue the pending 20 certificates for which receipt have been issued to the parents.
