Govt schoolteacher becomes international shooting judge

International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) ‘B’ Judges course was organised by the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) at Pune. The course was conducted by Gagan Narang Sports Promotion Foundation.

Severel candidates from different states of the country participated in the exam but 22 cleared the exam and become the international ‘B’ judges.

The only participant from the state, Rajvir Kaur, cleared the exam and is now certified to judge international shooting competitions.

The shooting range is opened and run by Sonalika International Limited under their CSR project.

Chairman of ISSF Rifle Commitee UK, David Goodfellow and Pawan Singh, Director Gagan Narang’s Shooting Academy felicitated Rajvir on achieving the distinction.

Rajvir Kaur is imparting training at a Government Senior Secondary School at a village in Chabbewal in Hoshiapur. It is the only government school in the state, having a shooting range. Rajvir hails from a small village Ballamgarh from Muktsar.

She thanked the management of Sonalika and school principal Manju Bala for according her the opportunity to coach rural children.
