New Delhi, February 12

The Delhi government announced Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia to kin of fire victims. A magisterial probe has been ordered in the incident and the officials of the Delhi Fire Service were directed by Delhi Home Minister Satyendar Jain to conduct an inspection of the entire area in Karol Bagh where several buildings appeared to be of five or six-storey in clear violations of building bylaws.

"Gross violations of building bylaws noticed in the area as well in the (Arpit Palace) Hotel," said the minister after an inspection of the site.

Meanwhile, in view of the fire tragedy the government postponed an event scheduled for this evening to mark completion of its four years in office. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia i consoled the loss of lives. — TNS
