Under pressure from the agitating Gurjar community members, the Rajasthan Government today handed over a copy of the 5 per cent quota Bill to the Gurjar Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (GASS) patron at his dharna site in Malrana and Meemod stations in Sawai Madhopur district.

IAS Neeraj K Pawan had handed over the copy of the Bill, passed by a voice vote in the Assembly on Wednesday, and the resolution passed by the Assembly and government-issued notification to GASS patron Kirori Singh Bainsla. “The GASS is examining the contents of the Bill with the help of experts on the railway tracks,” Pawan said.

“Any decision will be taken after examining the Bill and the notification,” Bainsla said.

“Governor Kalyan Singh approved the Bill at midnight,” Raj Bhavan’s Assistant Director-DIPR Lokesh Sharma said.

“There is no major change in the agitation sites. Everything is under control,” DG Law & Order ML Lather said. — OC
