Government Model School set foot in semis of Balwant Singh Kapur hockey tournament

Government Model School, Ladowali Road, Jalandhar, entered into the semifinals of the ‘15th All India Balwant Singh Kapur Hockey Tournament’ for Mata Prakash Kaur Cup for (U-19) school boys at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium Jalandhar, here today by beating Government Senior Secondary School, Mithapur 3-1.

In other matches Khalsa Collegiate School, Amritsar, get the better of Malwa Khalsa School, Ludhiana, 4-3 and Mata Gujri School, Shahbad, locked 2-2 with Sri Guru Teg Bahadur School, Baba Bakala.

In the first match, the Government Model School, Jalandhar, faced tough fight from Mithapur boys in the first half. At the end of the first half, the score was 1-1. In the second half, Jalandhar boys dominated and won the match 3-1.

In the second match, Mata Gujri School, Shahbad, draw against Sri Guru Teg Bahadur School, Baba Bakala, 2-2.

In the third match, Khalsa Collegiate School, Amritsar, defeated Malwa Khalsa School at the fag end of the match.

For Ludhiana, Onkar Singh scored the Hat-trick. He scored in the 25th, 42nd and 54th minute of the match.
