GNDU teachers seek pay hike, hold protest

Members of the Guru Nanak Dev University Teachers Association (GNDUTA) on Friday staged a protest as per the directives of the Punjab Federation of University and College Teachers Organisation (PFUCTO).

The PFUCTO has planned rallies to press upon the state government to implement the seventh pay commission report.

The office-bearers of the executive committee held a protest from 11 am to 1 pm. They too sought the implementation of seventh pay panel report.

Davinder Singh, president, Guru Nanak Dev University Teachers’ Union (GNDUTA), said, “We want the state government to implement the recommendation as soon as possible.”

A zonal rally will be held on January 24 of the GNDUTA and the GNDU affiliated colleges at the university, said Lakhwinder Singh, secretary, GNDUTA.

Teaching faculty of the SR Government College for Women also held a protest.
