GMHS-12 off to a winning start

CHANDIGARH:Government Model High School (Sector 12) defeated Government Model Senior Secondary School (Maloya B-Team) to reach into the girls' semifinals of the Chandigarh Sub Junior State Kabaddi Championship, at the Sarangpur Sports Complex, today.

Government Model High School (Sector 12) defeated Government Model Senior Secondary School (Maloya B-Team) to reach into the girls' semifinals of the Chandigarh Sub Junior State Kabaddi Championship, at the Sarangpur Sports Complex, today.   

The Sector 12 team logged a 23-5 win over Maloya in the first quarterfinal of the day. Government Model High School (Dhanas -II) also paved their way to the semis by defeating Government Model High School (Mani Majra) 43-18, whereas Government Model High School (Sector 41) won the third quarterfinal match by defeating Government Model Senior Secondary School (Maloya) 40-17. In the last quarterfinal, Government Model Senior Secondary School (Dhanas) defeated Ashiana Public School (Sector 46) 23-7. 

Earlier, in the league stage, Government Model Senior Secondary School (Maloya) registered a 25-3 win over Government High School (Hallo Majra) 25-3 and  Ashiana School defeated Government Model High School (Dhanas-I) 23-9.

Meanwhile in the boys' qualifying match, Government Model Senior Secondary School (Maloya) defeated Government Model High School (Sector 41) 29-10. Sri Guru Gobind Singh College (Sector 35) defeated Government Model High School (Sector 41) 32-9. Dhanas Club logged a 42-6 win over Government High School (Hallo Majra), while Unified Club overpowered Government Model High School (Dadu Majra) 25-16. Government Model High School (Kajheri) ousted Ashiana School boys 33-13, while Government Model High School (Sector 12) defeated Government Model High School (Dhanas-I) 33-8. Government Model High School (Dhanas II) defeated Government Model High School (Sector 41) 44-29. Unified Club also moved into the next round by defeating Sri Guru Gobind Singh School (Sector 35) 42-22 and Government Model High School (Sector 12) posted a marginal 62-61 win over Government Model Senior Secondary School (Sector 10). 

Over 418 players from 35 teams are participating in both boys and girls categories. The final matches of both the categories will be held on October 20.
