Merriam-Webster has chosen “justice” as its 2018 word of the year, driven by the churning news cycle over months and months. The word follows “toxic”, picked by Oxford Dictionaries, and “misinformation”, plucked by Dictonary.com. Searches for “justice” throughout the year, when compared to 2017, were up 74% on the site that has more than 100 million page views a month. To be word of the year worthy, an entry has to show both a high volume of traffic and a significant year-over-year increase in lookups. AP

New Zealand leader excited for holiday break

Wellington: New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says that six months after giving birth, she’s looking forward to spending more time with daughter Neve over the Christmas break. Ardern on Monday carried around a box to hand-deliver holiday treats of coffee and peanut brittle to reporters at Parliament. She was keeping alive a tradition that would be hard to imagine in some countries due to the sometimes acrimonious relationships between journalists and politicians. AP

Stone accuses Geoffrey Rush of sexual harassment 

New York: “Orange Is The New Black” star Yael Stone has alleged that Oscar-winning actor Geoffrey Rush sexually harassed her on multiple occasions while they worked on a theatre production of “The Diary of a Madman” in 2010. In an interview with The New York Times, Stone said Rush sent her sexually suggestive messages, spied on her while she was taking a shower and exposed himself to her. The Australian actor said it was conflicting for her to come out against Rush, whom she considered a mentor but said things were “weird” from the beginning. Rush has denied the allegations. PTI 

Kim Jong Il remembered
