The Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the UT Administration and the Municipal Corporation to provide parking facilities to lawyers and litigants in front of the offices of consumer commission and Debt Recovery Tribunals.
The issue to provide parking facilities to lawyers and litigants in front of UT State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Sector 19, Punjab State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Sector 37 and Debt Recovery Tribunals (DRT) in Sector 17-A was raised by IP Singh, President, DRT Bar Association. Taking up the matter, Justice Amol Rattan Singh issued directions to the UT Administration, Senior Superintendent of Police, Security and Traffic, and Municipal Corporation to provide parking facilities to lawyers and litigants in front of institutions, courts, tribunals and fora which were established for administration of justice.
It was also directed that no parking fee was to be charged by the contractor from the vehicles entering the paid parking area for the purpose of dropping or picking up any person for a short period. — TNS
