Geelani drops key aide in PoK

SRINAGAR: Separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani on Monday fired his long-time associate Ghulam Mohammad Safi from the post of head of his amalgam’s chapter in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and also disbanded the set-up there.

Separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani on Monday fired his long-time associate Ghulam Mohammad Safi from the post of head of his amalgam’s chapter in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and also disbanded the set-up there.

The decision was taken at a meeting of Geelani-led faction of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, an amalgam of several separatist groups, at the hardline separatist’s residence in the city.

The amalgam in a statement said “important administrative decisions” were discussed and a decision was taken to “disband the existing set-up” in PoK. Geelani named his personal representative Syed Abdullah Geelani as the new chief of the PoK chapter. — TNS
