KULLU, DECEMBER 26

The Revenue Department removed the gate of the hotel of Kullu MLA Sunder Singh Thakur today.

The department had pasted a notice on December 14 to remove it. The High Court had ordered to remove encroachments on the Kullu-Bhuntar road and the PWD and Forest Department was executing the drive to remove encroachments.

Kullu SDM Amit Guleria said the gate and hoardings were removed from the hotel premises as these were illegal. The matter of land adjacent to the hotel was sub judice and action would be taken according to the orders of the court. He said defaulters were given adequate time to remove the encroachments failing which they would have to face action.

The High Court had directed in March to remove encroachments on the roadside. The administration had prepared a list of 194 encroachments on government or forest land along the road between Kullu and Bhuntar.
