Gang of thieves busted

LUDHIANA: With the arrest of six persons, the police claimed to have busted a gang of robbers and thieves. Electronic goods and other valuables have been recovered from the accused, identified as Sandeep Kumar, alias Seepa (22), of Bala Ji Nagari, Haibowal Kalan; Nishu Kumar (25), of Hakikat Nagar; Vicky (24) of Partap Pura; Jatinder Kumar (23) of Hakikat Nagar; Gagandeep (22) of 22-Foot Road, and Kamaldeep, alias Kamal (23), of Nurpura village.

With the arrest of six persons, the police claimed to have busted a gang of robbers and thieves. Electronic goods and other valuables have been recovered from the accused, identified as Sandeep Kumar, alias Seepa (22), of Bala Ji Nagari, Haibowal Kalan; Nishu Kumar (25), of Hakikat Nagar; Vicky (24) of Partap Pura; Jatinder Kumar (23) of Hakikat Nagar; Gagandeep (22) of 22-Foot Road, and Kamaldeep, alias Kamal (23), of Nurpura village.

Sandeep and Gagandeep both operate auto-rickshaw, Rishu is a sanitation employee, Vicky a painter, Jatinder a driver and Kamaldeep is a meat-seller.

The police have recovered one three-wheeler, 10 LCD sets, one TV set, eight mobile phones, one laptop, two laptop screens, one microwave and Rs 70,000 in cash from the suspects.

Additional DCP (Zone 1) Gurpreet Singh Sikand said the suspects looted their passengers on their auto-rickshaw during the night. They had put up a fake registration number on the auto-rickshaw.

They not only committed loot but also thefts at electronic showrooms.

Strikes by the gang

April 29: Stole two computer screens, two laptops and one LED from a hosiery unit.
December 18: Stole Rs 5 lakh from the office of Indane Gas Agency at Grain Market. 
January 28: Stolen six LCD sets and 25 mobile phones from an electronic showroom on Bhadurke Road. 
February 14: Robbed a passenger of cash and mobile phone near Grain Market. 
February 3: Stole four LCD sets and two laptops from a showroom at Sangam Chowk.
