Mandi, Kullu and tribal district of Lahaul Spiti received fresh snowfall on Friday, which blocked several roads in these districts in remote areas.
In Kullu district alone 50 roads have been blocked in Nagar, Banjar, Kullu, Manali and Manikaran area, where heavy snowfall was continuing till Friday afternoon. Manali town received 10 cm snowfall, while Solang valley 45 cm.
Deputy Commissioner Kullu Yunus Khan said that around 50 roads had been blocked in the district. All main roads leading to the district are open but in remote villages roads have been blocked in Manali, Nagar, Manikaran and Banjar valley. The DC has urged people to avoid venturing into high-altitude areas in the next few days. In Mandi district Prashar Lake, Shikari Devi, Janjehli and Barot received snowfall, which blocked roads and disrupted power supply in villages. Seraj and Karsog are the worst affected. While 22 roads have been blocked in Seraj, six roads have been blocked in Karsog valley.
Efforts were on to clear snow for traffic movement. The Public Works Department has deployed its workforce and machinery at different place to restore traffic.
Telecommunication services were disrupted In Lahaul Spiti after snowfall.
