Ludhiana, August 20
The Railway authorities have decided to provide free carriage for sending relief material to the flood-hit state of Kerala. The authorities have issued a circular in this regard to all railway stations of the district.
Ludhiana Railway Station Director Abhinav Singla said people and Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) willing to donate eatables and other things to the flood-hit people could send the material to Kerala by train free of cost.
Many NGOs have appreciated the offer. “There are a lot of people and organisations which want to send aid to Kerala and now it will be easy for them to transport these things to the flood-hit areas,” said Umesh Chabra, from Helping Hands Society. — TNS
