With an aim to acknowledge common people regarding urgent first aid in case of an accident, heart attack or other ailments and to act as first medical responders in case of an emergency, the Punjab Medical Institute of Nursing and Hospital (PMINH) Trust has come up with a free of cost ‘first aid course’.

The week-long course is starting from February 1 at the Punjab Medical Institute of Nursing and Hospital. A team of senior doctors from the hospital would be training people about medical attention which a patient requires at first in case of an emergency.

Dr Harbir Singh of the PMINH said: “The number of road accidents is on the rise and if people would have the knowledge of quick first aid, how to check pulse and BP, dressing of wounds, how to tackle an emergency situation and make the person remain conscious till ambulance and doctors arrive, a big number of lives could be saved.”

Besides, even in day-to-day life, the knowledge about the first aid was necessary, he said.

Dr Harbir said in the course, basic knowledge of how to do the CPR in case of an accident, treating wounds, temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, diabetes, besides other training would be given.

“We have circulated a message about it and the course is open for all. Anyone interested to be a part of it has to just send a WhatsApp message to the hospital number and is welcome for the training, he added.
