Kangra, January 6
Former Chief Minister and senior BJP leader PK Dhumal on Sunday said formalities for laying the foundation stone of Central University Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) at Dehra were in its final stage and an announcement to this effect would be made soon.
While talking to mediapersons at Dehra after attending the party office-bearers’ meeting, Dhumal said in 2011, following the announcement of CUHP for Kangra district, it was clear that appropriate land was available at Dehra and the then BJP government identified land for the Beas campus of the university and now the CUHP was coming up soon on this identified land.
Dhumal blamed the Congress government for delaying the construction of the CUHP, an important educational institute, which had adversely affected the development of the state. Former Chief Minister lauded the steps taken by the NDA government led by Narendra Modi, which included the one rank one pension and other rural development schemes, which helped people with rural background to grow in right perspective. Dhumal said during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, 17 crore people voted the BJP to power and 22 crore people had benefited by the different programmes of the Modi government.
He lambasted the Congress for cheating the people over “loan waiver issue” during the Assembly polls, but asked the voters to be cautious for the forth coming Lok Sabha elections. — OC
