Members of Panjab University’s student organisations, including Sandeep of the SFS, Abhilash of the SFI and Sanjeev and Sunil of the Youth for Society (Y4S), attended a meeting on forming ‘Progressive Youth Forum’ to highlight the issues concerning students on Monday.
While there was no representative from the AISA and ASA, PSU (Lalkar) confirmed to join the forum over phone, informed Sunil. “The objective of the forum is to bring together progressive student organisations at one platform and start united struggle. Our primary agenda is to address the problems of the youth. Discussions, events, marches and protests will be carried under the banner of the forum,” said Sunil.
“We want to include ‘Campaign against Privatisation’, a group working against the privatisation of primary health sector of Punjab, into the forum,” he added. All representatives decided to organise open-discussion on interim Budget and unemployment in the coming week.
Interaction with national leaders
A group of students pursuing masters in governance and leadership from the PU visited the Parliament on January 8 to witness its functioning during the session and interaction with various leaders. This visit was facilitated by Prof Pam Rajput, Course Co-ordinator and Fellow at the PU. Students interacted with national leaders such as Lal Krishan Advani, Anurag Thakur, Jai Shankar, Rahul Gandhi, Kumari Shelja and Hema Malini.
